Sledding is fun.

Who'd have thought that on the day before March we would get by far the best snow fall of the season? Raytown easily got 4" of snow so the family spent a couple hours at a nearby park along with several others from the neighborhood. We had a great time and got some good video of the kids (and us) speeding down the hill. I ran into a guy I used to go to church with (Tom Ryan) and we had a good talk about old times and what was new while the kids wore themselves out running back up the hill to go again.

**I discovered that hot glogg is particularly good after 2 hours in the cold.

(Mix 50/50 into a sauce pan, heat up to just under a boil and voila!)

I am nicely warmed up now. Actually we just finished watching The Clone Wars movie on blu ray and now I think I am going to put the kids in bed and call it a day. There is a good chance given that the temps are going to get down to near ZERO tonight that we will be able to take the kids back out tomorrow after church and get in a bit more hill time.

You mean you will have an opportunity for more glogg time... you can't fool us.

quite possibly.

I was disconsolate to find that World Market was out of stock of Glogg, last time we were there...they get it on a seasonal basis.

I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard for me to make from scratch...I should try it.

Not literally no, but I hadn't seen him for a few years so it was cool to see him sledding on the same hill.

Glogg is something I only discovered a few months ago. Neuf introduced me to it and I picked up a few bottles from the World Market in Westport. What I got was actually Glogg mix... you can either mix it 50/50 with hot water or some kind of alcohol. It is very good with the dark rum. To give you an idea of the taste, there is a recipe for home made glogg: here.

Now the recipe lists cloves as an optional spice, but to me the glodd mix I bought seemed to have a heavy clove taste. Unfortunately it is a seasonal drink and apparently is already off the shelves at World Market, but if you remember next November you can start looking for it.

Here's a source:

And another, this one in Kansas:

It is a concentrate, and has a rich, spiced taste with I think some orange extracts or something. Paired with DARK rum, preferably a black rum like Cruzan Blackstrap or preferably Goslings (as Perc duly displays) it is fantastic. It might be authentic to pair with aquavit but aquavit/akvavit is much better on its own.
